This committee consists of five members, with four appointed by the commissioner, two of whom must be former MLS players. They have the authority to issue suspensions. If a suspension exceeds two games, the MLS Players Association has the right to appeal in writing to the commissioner, at which point an appeal hearing will be scheduled.
The precise length of a suspension the league can impose is not explicitly defined. However, considering the gravity of the incident, it would not be unexpected if Suarez were to miss all of Inter Miami`s remaining 10 MLS regular season matches. With the Herons` next game scheduled for September 13, the league has sufficient time to fully evaluate the situation and its potential consequences before determining any disciplinary action.
