The second day of the WTA Rouen Open promises an exciting lineup of eight tennis matches. We will be providing our expert predictions for each contest, including the highly anticipated match between Marta Kostyuk and Diane Parry, all taking place under the roof at the Kindarena.
Match Previews and Predictions
Marta Kostyuk vs. Diane Parry
Head-to-Head: Kostyuk leads 3-0
Despite Diane Parry’s solid clay-court record and home-crowd advantage, she enters this match as a significant underdog. Marta Kostyuk, the top seed, has won all three of their previous encounters, dropping only one set. Although Kostyuk’s 2026 season has been somewhat inconsistent with a 6-4 win-loss record, this match presents a prime opportunity for her to build momentum. Parry is unlikely to pose a significant enough challenge to prevent Kostyuk from advancing.
Prediction: Kostyuk in 2 sets
Caty McNally vs. Katie Volynets
Head-to-Head: McNally leads 4-0
While this matchup appears evenly contested on paper, the historical head-to-head record heavily favors Caty McNally, who has won all four of their previous meetings. Although two of those matches went to three sets and they haven’t played since 2023, McNally’s dominance is noteworthy. Both players have shown improvement, but McNally remains the higher-ranked player. Expect a close match, but McNally is likely to emerge victorious once again.
Prediction: McNally in 3 sets
Elisabetta Cocciaretto vs. Alina Chareeva
Head-to-Head: Cocciaretto leads 1-0
Elisabetta Cocciaretto secured a straight-sets victory in their sole previous meeting seven years ago. However, their career trajectories have diverged significantly since then. Cocciaretto is now a consistent Tour-level player with two WTA singles titles. Chareeva, while approaching a top-100 debut, has not achieved the same level of success. Facing the in-form Cocciaretto on her preferred surface, it is difficult to envision Chareeva securing a win.
Prediction: Cocciaretto in 2 sets
Hailey Baptiste vs. Jessika Ponchet
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Jessika Ponchet may feel optimistic given Hailey Baptiste’s less dominant form on clay. However, Baptiste has recently shown strong performances, including reaching the quarterfinals of the WTA Miami Open by defeating three seeded players. Her past performance at Roland Garros also highlights her growing proficiency on clay. The indoor conditions are also likely to benefit Baptiste. While an upset is possible if Ponchet plays exceptionally well and rallies the crowd, a Baptiste victory is the more probable outcome.
Prediction: Baptiste in 2 sets
